2015 Masters Artistic Pool Championship

December 4 – 6, 2015 etched another mark in the hearts of Artistic Pool players and fans as the 2015 Masters Artistic Pool Championship took place! The venue was at Jamaica Joe’s Billiards Bar & Cafe in Midwest City, OK – one of the nicest poolrooms anywhere. They have some of the best equipment to play on with 16 – 7 foot and 3 – 9 foot Diamond tables. The staff has a special spirit of hospitality and was very helpful all weekend long.

The competition started on Friday with the final round finishing up on Sunday. William “The Gentleman” DeYonker was on fire for the entire event! After tying the first round with Curtis Robertson, Will never looked back, as he led the field in stellar fashion throughout the entire event. He scored 277 points out of 320 possible points tying the highest score ever registered for a 40- shot program. Curtis was right on his heals, but came up a few points short finishing in second with 272 points, a personal best. Mark Dimick finished in 3rd with 230 points.

The Sportsmanship Recipient Award was presented to Darryl Smith by a vote of the players, and Brian “Superman” Pauley won the Rising Star Recipient Award. Curtis Robertson won 3 disciplines – Trick/Fancy, Jump, and Masse; William DeYonker won 2 disciplines – Special Arts and Bank/Kick; Mark Dimick won 2 disciplines – Draw and Stroke; Jim “Coach” Barnard won the Follow discipline!

A big thank you goes out to Jessica Finch Massey, the owner of Jamaica Joes for hosting this exciting event. Everyone we spoke to really enjoyed the Championship and the friendly players / personalities that came to compete. An entertainment show extraordinaire and fan appreciation night took place on Saturday. A very entertaining speed pool tournament with the pro players and fans playing side by side also took place…to the delight of everyone in attendance.

We would like to thank all of the sponsors, including Jamaica Joe’s Billiards, the WPA for their recognition and continued support as we develop Artistic Pool Worldwide, the WPA Artistic Pool Division, Robertson Custom Cues / Curtis Robertson, and Dr. Cue Promotions / “Dr. Cue” and “Ms. Cue”. A special thanks to Delta Racks for sponsoring a special custom rack and case for a raffle to raise funds for “10 Strong, a children’s cancer organization to support mothers of children with cancer (http://www.10strongokc.com/”). This was done through the sincere efforts of Rocky Haden and Jessica Finch Massey. A special thanks goes out to Tim Chin for sponsoring the Rising Star Recipient Award. Finally, a sincere thanks to all of the players entertaining on Saturday night, which included a feature presentation by Rick “The Barber” Hawkinson doing his famous Blues Brothers Act and much more!
